The route starts at the Sanctuary of the Madonna dei Miracoli and then heads straight towards Castel del Monte. There are two really tough uphill sections (for me) with gradients of 7 to 9%. The return leg is almost entirely downhill, reaching speeds of up to 70 km/h, with the exception of two or three steep sections.

Castel del Monte is a 13th century fortress built by Frederick II of Swabia, Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire and King of Sicily, on the top of a hill 540 meters above sea level in the western Murge plateau in Puglia. It is located in the homonymous fraction of the Italian municipality of Andria (BT), located 17 km from the city, near the town of Santa Maria del Monte. Inserted in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1996

Built by Staufferkaiser Friedrich I, the interior was never completed. The shape of the castel remains a mystery to this day. Condition very good.
