It is a centuries-old Christian tradition to erect a cross or shrine for special occasions or in special places. In this prominent location, however, we encounter a modern version of the cross. The artist has slightly modified the classic version in its design, depicting the crossbeams to the right and left of the main beam not exactly horizontal, but slightly offset and slanted.

The cross was apparently swept away by a storm in January 2024. Reconstruction seems to be planned. Unlike the neighboring Belvédère du Cèdre, the viewpoint is quite overgrown!

The mural seen in this image is located in Cannes and is known as the Fresque des Célébrités or Cinéma Cannes Mural. It pays homage to the film industry, a key part of Cannes’ identity, which is of course famous for its annual film festival. The mural was created by Amazigh Kateb and his team, known for their work for the organization A.Fresco. This mural depicts iconic scenes and figures from cinema history, playfully portraying actors and filmmakers. The aim is to celebrate Cannes’ rich film tradition. This artwork has become a major landmark in the city
