Regensburg's smallest district was first documented in April 981 – as the Scierstadt estate, which Emperor Otto II granted to the St. Emmeram Monastery. At the beginning of the 13th century, Stadtamhof came under the sovereignty of the Wittelsbach dynasty. At the end of the 15th century, the settlement was elevated to town status and granted its own mayor. As the "gateway" to the city of Regensburg, Stadtamhof suffered considerable hardship, especially during times of war, and was destroyed several times. From 1409 to 1486, Stadtamhof belonged to Regensburg – at that time, it was pledged to the city. However, it was not finally incorporated into the city until 1924.
