There is an old manor house in Johannstorf. There used to be a moated castle there, which was demolished. In 1743, a baroque brick building was built by master builder Rudolph Matthias Dallin. The building has two floors. The client was the Buchwald(t) family, who have lived in Johannstorf since 1412. In 1786, the Eckermann family bought the estate, which they kept until it was expropriated in 1945. The house was then inhabited. Since 1993, Johannstorf Castle has been privately owned again and is currently being renovated.
