The Butterberg is almost 384 meters high and is located just a few kilometers from the center of Bischofswerda. At the summit there is an inn in historic walls with a 21 meter high observation tower. You can find more information and opening times here: http://www.butterberg.com/.

There was a brickworks and restaurant there a long time ago. Things were probably a little rougher in the remote place and it is said to have reminded the good citizens of nearby Bischofswerda of the real Chicago or what they imagined it to be. Today horses graze peacefully, no shots, no sirens, a family housing project has settled here. But it's pretty secluded, you have to like that.

A very nice hiking area with lots of deciduous forest, very nice places to linger, with shelters, benches and everything very clean and well maintained. Arrived at the top a nice restaurant with a very good kitchen and a great lookout tower.
