The dam was built for flood control and to augment low water levels. Today, it's also a fantastic local recreation area. Tamina Kallert, presenter of the WDR program "Wunderschön" (Beautiful), has already discovered this. Tamina tried stand-up paddleboarding on the Bever Dam for the show.
