Treat yourself to a short walk to Kirchberg's new observation tower, just 10 minutes from the town center. A breathtaking view over the upper Mühlviertel, the Danube valley and, when the air is clear, deep into the Alps as far as the Dachstein. The tower has a height of 26 m and 103 steps. dr Rudolf Kirchschläger was born in 1915 in Grafenau, municipality of Niederkappel and was baptized a few days later in the Niederkappel parish church. Because of this, Dr. Kirchschläger repeatedly visited our place with his family in his later years. He celebrated his 70th and 80th baptismal anniversaries in Mühlviertler Dom. On March 30, 2000 Dr. Kirchschlager in Vienna. To commemorate him, a plaque was placed in the parish church (donated by Mr.OSR Konrad Jäger) and a memorial stone was erected on the site of his birthplace in Grafenau 21. There is also a Kirchschläger-Steig, which leads from the former parents' house on the small Mühl to the Mühlviertler Dom. (Source: www.donauregion.at)
