I live only about 300 meters from the banks of the Elster river and often go for walks as far as the Milbitz bridge.

A very beautiful bridge. The arch features a cast-iron ornament depicting a stork in the center. The path from the castle tower across the bridge leads directly up to the Jagdhof restaurant.

The "Waldhaus Bridge" is located on Hainbergweg, near the memorial to the beloved. In 1697, a pleasure pavilion, the well-known Waldhaus (Forest House), was built on a rocky outcrop. This is how the bridge got its name. Unfortunately, the Waldhaus has been gone since 1840. The bridge was dismantled by hand and rebuilt in 2010/2011. On the southeast side, there is an information stone about the Association for the Promotion of the Gera City Forest Bridges (Förderverein Stadtwaldbrücken Gera e.V.). On this side, there is a small chapel relief on the bridge face. Since 2017, a Reformation cross has stood on the northwest side. The Luther Trail runs along here. The green L on a white background is also painted on the bridge as a trail marker. A small bench invites visitors to linger here. You can find more information on the website of the bridge association: https://brückenverein-gera.de/waldhausbrucke/

The bridge marked here is definitely not the "Waldschlösschen Bridge" in the Elbe Valley in Dresden. We are not in Dresden/Saxony on the Elbe River, but in Gera/Thuringia on the White Elster River. The bridge shown here is the Waldhaus Bridge. Further information can be found here: https://brückenverein-gera.de/waldhausbrucke/
