Around the bridge, steep, partly freestanding rocks rise from the Elbe valley, shaping the characteristic image of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. The combination of rugged rock spires, deeply cut valleys, and wide views makes this place particularly impressive.

The narrow, deeply cut rock crevice leads through a fascinating rocky world of steep sandstone walls, narrow passages, and numerous steps. The path mostly runs over stairs and wooden walkways, which wind through the gorge and repeatedly open up new perspectives on the surrounding rock formations. The partly narrow and shady location creates a special, almost mystical atmosphere.

The monument commemorating the peasants' uprising along the road recounts the peasants' expulsion of the wild animals that were plundering the fields, thus rebelling against the authorities (who had the right to hunt). (The monument was erected in 1990, on the 200th anniversary of the uprising.)

It is a classic stone arch bridge made of local sandstone, which blends harmoniously into the rugged rocky landscape of the Schindergraben. The bridge appears particularly monumental when photographed from the valley floor of the Schindergraben.
