We did the hike at the beginning of March. We hiked it clockwise. In some places, the trail was difficult to find. The last section before Olymbos follows a wide, impressive, and clearly old path, constructed largely by hand. Unfortunately, only one restaurant was open in March, and the place was completely deserted!

Good and inexpensive traditional cuisine, home-baked bread with home-ground flour, family business, you can also admire the old windmill in operation.

Village, located practically in the northernmost and mountainous part of the island of Karparhos, of which the inhabitants maintain their archaic language, music, habits, customs, architectural style and the particular furnishings of the homes. Until 1980, the road connecting Olympos to the rest of the island was impassable and communications with the rest of Karpathos took place mainly by sea, from the port of Diafani. Due to its particular architectural beauty, Olympos has been declared the historic seat of the new Municipality of Karpathos. The village of Olympos is nicknamed the "Women's Village" due to their numerical majority and because once upon a time, men were almost never in the village to live their daily lives with their respective wives, but often went into battle against pirates or at work. In fact, unlike the well-known Mount Olympus, the name of the town is feminine and is also known as «Elymbos».
