Situated on a mountain spur, the castle, visible from afar, rises as the crown of the former residential town. Its architectural design and the castle tower that towers above everything mark it as a masterpiece of baroque architecture. Source: https://www.heidecksburg.de/historie/baugeschichte/

The tower is private property and unfortunately access is restricted! The hike up from Geitersdorf was a bit arduous, but very quiet and beautiful.

The tower not only stands on private land, it was also privately built. If the owner is on site, members and friends of the Jena University Sports Club can climb the tower with a view - thanks Reiner 👍🏻 Please respect the privacy of the property owners, thank you.
