Apparently regarded by the Victorians as "ill-planned and untidy", but now quite possibly one the most picturesque Moors villages, Hutton-le-Hole is a very popular starting point for hikes. Fairly sizeable car park just on the eastern side of the village off the road to Lastingham. Hutton Le Hole is a nice village to pass through, all the stone buildings are good to look at and they all seem to compliment each other. This is a nice tourist area which seems to present a calm atmosphere

You need to walk across the grass from the crossroads at the bottom of the village to reach it.

A very lovely village with some serious history going back to the 7th century. At the site of the present St Mary's Church here, was founded by St Cedd of Lindisfarne as a Celtic monastery around AD654; the present church goes back to the times of the Normans. The village is a great place to stop on your tour. In need of food and drink? The Blacksmiths Arms will keep you well-fed!
