Picturesque village with easy roadside parking. Fast flowing beck through the centre of the village with 2 small road bridges and a few wooden pedestrian bridges over it. Benches along the beck to sit and contemplate. Easy access to the Cleveland Way to the south through Clain Wood.

There are actually 2 wooden bridges in quick succession. Heading from west to east, the first bridge overlooks a rough track across which flows Piper Beck, and that was still flooded in May so the wooden bridge is a necessity. The second bridge is a mere 30-40 yards to the east, and overlooks a concrete bridge with metal railings, that traverses over Scugdale Beck (see photos).
