This is one fabulous place to be: a very picturesque and beautiful little lake, with little piers on its banks in a few places. The tracks and paths around it are well-managed (thus easy to run on). On a sunny day, the waters get amazingly blue colours and the scene is truly Impressionistic!

From the Greystone Rigg (the northern end of this segment), there are great views to the south, including the banks and hills in the distance, and then it's a pleasant run down through this plantation to the car park at the southern boundary of Yearsley Moor (Well Lane). All the forest tracks here are managed, wide and incredibly easy to run on. It's a walk (jog, rather!) in the park!

This is a lovely little lake in Yearsley Woods to jog your way up to. Note, all the maps I've seen show two ponds here - however, only this one remains in reality; the other one has been drained since and is essentially a marshland now.

This is a great walk in Yearsley Woods / Yearsley Moor right from the car park towards Higher Fish Ponds to the east. Wide tracks, lovely tall trees. You will also get lovely views of the surrounding Howardian Hills over the trees in a few places. Overall, a great place to be!

Crayke is a small village with a great vantage point over the Vale Of York. Climbing up here beings great views to the south and it a little taster of the Howardian Hills to the north and east. Crake has its own castle which is a grade I listed building. It is privately owned and on the site of a Norman Motte and Bailey Castle. It is believed there has been a fortress on this high position since the Roman times. Crayke Castle is not the only interesting building though, this small village has 28 grade II listed buildings. The local pub, the Durham Ox is 300 years old and is beautiful inside with flagstone floors and ornately carved oak panelling.
