"An estate in the village of Metzelthin was mentioned as early as the 14th century. The chronicle reports on the free Lehn-Schulzengut zu Metzelthin in 1591. Later records speak of knight seats (three knight seats in 1684) in the village. The owners of the estate changed frequently In the 1930s, the Baron von Schlotheim from Düsseldorf / Gerresheim took over the estate, which included a distillery, two large, massive barns, stables, including a stable with 20 horses and nine teams, as well as a gardening shop and a manor house. After the 2nd World War the estate was used by former Polish forced laborers! occupied, later managed by the Soviet Army and settled in 1948 as part of the land reform. During this time the distillery was demolished and the recovered building material was used by new farmers. From 1952 until the reunification of the two German states, the LPG used the entire estate. ..... Addition 2006: Little is left of the former splendor of the property in Metzelthin. Only a barn and a stable are left. There is no longer a farm in Metzeltzin. The few arable land are cultivated by resettlers from a neighboring town.
