A wonderful pond in the center of Zwierzyniec. The pond features islands—one is home to the Church on the Water of St. John of Nepomuk, and the other is home to a Roman sarcophagus-style monument. It's a wonderful place for a walk—it's worth taking a walk around the pond.

The Church of St. John of Nepomuk in Zwierzyniec is a charming Baroque church built on an island in 1741–1747 as a family chapel for the Zamoyski family. The characteristic bridge leading to the church and the picturesque location make this place a unique point on the map of Roztocze. The interior is decorated with polychrome by Łukasz Smuglewicz and paintings in the side chapels, including a painting of the coronation of the Virgin Mary attributed to him. The building is easily accessible by bike – it is worth stopping for a moment and looking inside.

On one of the islands there is the church of St. John of Nepomuk in Zwierzyniec, the so-called "church on the water". On the other island there is a monument in the shape of a Roman sarcophagus, and under it - according to tradition - the favorite dog of Marysieńka (then Zamoyska) was buried.

"Zwierzyńczyk" is known under its official name as: "Historic water and palace system in Zwierzyniec with tourist development". This is a park complex located behind the school in Zwierzyniec. The city managed to obtain funds from the European Union to modernize the park. And in this way, residents and tourists visiting the city can enjoy the beauty of subtle and charming alleys running among regulated water reservoirs.

On the Polish side, the battle was fought by a unit commanded by Colonel Marcin Lelewel Borelowski (700-800 people) and a unit led by Kajetan Ćwiek Cieszkowski (400 people). Both of these units had taken part in the Battle of Biłgoraj the day before; after the clash, they merged into one unit. On the Russian side, Major Mikołaj Sternberg commanded; his forces numbered – according to various sources – from 3 to 4 thousand soldiers. The Russian units consisted of 5 infantry companies, a squadron of dragoons and two Cossack sotnias. The Russians also had four cannons. Borelowski commanded the Polish forces from Polak Hill, where a monument to the insurgents currently stands and there are boards with descriptions in Polish and Hungarian.
