Tips from the Community

Lisa
July 10, 2024, Huguenot Flatwater Park

This is one of the more secluded stretches of parkland along the James River; if you're okay with running along Riverside Drive, which doesn't have much of a shoulder but is also a pretty quiet road, you can link these trails with a running loop in the Pony Pasture section of James River Park.

Very beautiful place to take a walk on a sunny day. The Japanese garden was my favorite - absolutely beautiful and a must see.

Are there any flat or wheelchair-accessible easy trails?

While many trails have gentle ascents, some areas offer flatter sections suitable for those seeking minimal elevation change. For specific wheelchair-accessible routes, it's best to check individual trail descriptions, but urban green spaces and some reservoir paths often provide smoother surfaces. The Huguenot Flatwater Park is an example of a very flat option.

What are some interesting places or landmarks to see on easy hikes?
