It's a little rocky to reach the top, but the views are totally worth it! In the summer, you can even find blueberries and blackberries. While you're enjoying the beautiful views, make sure to keep an eye out for rattlesnakes, as this spot is known to have quite a few sightings in the summer months.

approx 70 meters hike-your-bike to Big Shelter. Watch your rear-derailleur when pushing your bike in between some of the bigger rocks on the path.

Trying to reach Big Shelter from this side is much better via bike. There are a few hike-your-bike sections but those are much shorter than when attempting to reach on Old Turnpike from the west.

First-come first-served shelter for hikers on the Suffern - Bear Mt Trail. There are also possibilities to pitch a tent and take advantage of existing fire rings. And did I mention the amazing views of Manhattan?
