Lahaina Banyan Court Park housed a 150 year old Banyan tree as of April 24th of 2023. Unfortunately the tree was burned, but there is hope it will recover! This is a well shaded park with ocean views, shops within a few steps, and a plethora of heritage sites!

Hanaka’o’o Beach Park is home to white sand beaches, barbecue grills, covered pavilions, a lifeguard, and stunning views of Lānaʻi just offshore. Some people have reported mixed reviews about the water quality at this beach, but the majority of the time it is clear and great for snorkeling.

While many outdoor areas in Hawaii have restrictions for dogs, especially in protected natural areas, some coastal paths and urban trails in Lahaina may allow leashed dogs. It's always best to check specific trail regulations or local signage before heading out with your pet. Generally, beaches and state parks often have restrictions.
Lahaina offers pleasant hiking conditions year-round due to its tropical climate. However, the cooler, drier months from November to May are often preferred, as temperatures are milder and there's less humidity. This period also coincides with whale watching season, adding another dimension to coastal walks.
Even on easy trails, it's crucial to be prepared. We recommend bringing ample water, sun protection (hat, sunscreen, sunglasses), and wearing proper footwear suitable for walking on varied surfaces, including sand and potentially uneven lava rock. Light, breathable clothing is also advisable.
While popular coastal trails can see more foot traffic, exploring trails slightly away from the main resort areas or hiking during off-peak hours (early morning or late afternoon) can offer a more tranquil experience. Look for trails that venture a bit inland from the immediate beachfront for potentially fewer crowds.
