Leach Pond was created in 1825 to provide water for an ironworks in Easton. It was formed by damming the Poquanticut cedar swamp. Pond Walk trail leads between the Leach and Upper Leach ponds. You'll spot many birds in the area as well as turtles and salamander.

Sprawled over 1,843 acres (746 ha), Borderland State Park is a great place for exploring. The park's 20-mile wooded trail network are popular with hikers, bikers and horseback riders. Ames Mansion, built in 1910, is a focal point of the park. You can do a mansion tour, go canoeing on one of the lakes and learn about the park's history at the visitor center. The park was used as a filming location for Ghostbusters and Shutter Island. To visit the park, you'll need to buy a pass from the main parking lot.
