Yakutiye Madrasa

Highlight • Historical Site

That old Madrasa of Erzurum is now an ethnic museum.
The entrance fee is quite reasonable (12.5 lira in 2021), the exposition is not big but interesting.
Moreover, the building is beautiful inside and outside. I loved the traditional 1m doors!

Scenic Road Along Tortum Lake

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

Super scenic road along the Tortum lake. It is the main road but the traffic is really low.
On the south side there is a really steep climb (about 12%) with a rewarding view at the top. If it is too much for you, they are building a tunnel (dec. 2021) which will soon be open and let you avoid the climb.

Gorge Descent Near Otlukbeli

Highlight (Segment) • Gorge

I didn’t have enough charge to record all the descent. It goes on for miles (much longer than komoot allowed me to mark up) The whole route from the pass down to the main road is amazing. Worth a detour in our view.

Good asphalt surface the whole way (except in Korucuk village, look out for the nearly invisible speed bumps there). Slightly more climbing but reasonable gradients, decent scenery and almost no traffic.

The entrance fee for foreigners is around 3 euros. Unfortunately, there is not much to see in the castle, but the view of Erzurum from the tower is very beautiful.
