View looking in the direction of Altnaharra. The river is close to the road at this pont and makes it an easy place to pick up some water, with a convenient Brew stop about 100 metres south.

Well worth staying at, or just dropping into the Altnaharra hotel for a meal which will help support the local economy.

A long haul up, but well worth it for the views and the descent to loch Shin. Great on any day but magical if the Sun is shining.

Bike maintenance station next to the picnic centre. Very useful if you don't have any tools to hand.

sadly, the photo does not do justice to the lights. Bravo to the team who light up Lairg every xmas.

Great views from much of the road that runs alongside the loch, Ben Hee, Ben Klibreck and Ben More Assynt are 3 of the mountains hereabouts. The Dalchork bird hide is worth a visit when water levels are high or after a prolonged wet spell. Can see a variety of wildfowl, Hen Harrier and Osprey have also been sighted.

Views from the Invershin to Ullapool road. It's generally quiet with plenty of passing places to dodge any traffic. Keep an eye out for the plaque to Ferdi of Belgium tucked away in the vegetation at the side of the road. I have no idea about his back story, or why it is there.

The cafe reopened in 2024, the outside seating area is great, made from old whiskey barrel staves but the outside serving area is not always open. There is now a parking fee, so bear that in mind if you are planning to start your ride from the falls.
