In 1897, the Śmigiel County Assembly passed a resolution to build a narrow-gauge railway with a track gauge of 1000 mm, connecting Krzywiń, Stare Bojanowo, Śmigiel, Wielichowo, and Ujazd. Construction work began in 1898. In 1900, the first section between Krzywiń and Stare Bojanowo was opened, followed by the Stare Bojanowo-Wielichowo line. Initially, the rolling stock consisted of steam locomotives and passenger and freight wagons.
