A very beautiful route, the only drawback being that it's extremely popular, being close to Montpellier. There are several variations ranging from 7 to 25 km.

A view that's well-earned, but incredible! I arrived via the Northwest trail, and I had to push a bit to reach the summit. I don't know if this spot is accessible from the south by mountain bike; this southern trail is mapped on Komoot but not on IGN.

A really nice spot. Not as high as the ROC BLANC, but almost prettier, with a much more pleasant hike. The path to get there is nice, although steep, with a good difference in altitude! The descent is moderately gentle, but few surprises. In short, a pleasant summit, where it is good to spend time! BE CAREFUL, once at the top, to get to the "cornice", an 8/10m hole is almost at the edge of the path. Watch your feet.

Superb hike with very beautiful panoramas but indeed quite demanding because the path is very rocky in places and with some passages on the edge of cliffs. Hiking shoes necessary +++ I would also advise against going with young children. I agree with the previous comment on the first part because in fact the route takes us onto private property which is painful for the people who live there because we actually pass through their garden and then onto a private road.

Located at an altitude of approximately 706m, the Roc de Vigne offers an exceptional view of the Pic St Loup, and the Hortus, among others. An incredible place, worth the detour.

A very beautiful, not-too-difficult hike that offers beautiful views all along the way. The summit itself is nice but nothing special, but the Salzman pine forests are magnificent.

Superb walk with a magnificent view at the summit, however it is VERY rocky, so wear good shoes (not like me).

The region around Saint-Martin-De-Londres is dominated by two iconic peaks: Summitof Saint-Loup and Hortus Summit. Both offer stunning panoramic views. Another highly-rated option is Peyre Martine Summit, known for its magnificent panorama after a rewarding hike.
From the summit of Pic Saint-Loup, you can enjoy a 360-degree panorama encompassing the garrigue, the Cévennes, the plain of Nîmes, the Rhône valley, and the Mediterranean Sea. On clear days, you might even spot the Pyrenees. Hortus Summit offers magnificent views from the sea to the Cévennes, with a particularly clear vista of Pic Saint-Loup itself.
Yes, for experienced hikers, the Corniche de l'Hortus loop on Sommet de l'Hortus provides a more challenging route along the cliff edge with panoramic views, though some sections can be technical and require caution. Additionally, the Climbing Section on the North Face of Pic Saint-Loup offers a thrilling 'climbing' mode experience for about twenty meters, requiring secure footing but rewarding with sublime views.
The region's Mediterranean climate makes spring and autumn ideal for hiking, offering pleasant temperatures and vibrant landscapes. Summers can be hot, especially at midday, so early morning or late afternoon hikes are recommended. Winters are generally mild, but trails can be rocky and require appropriate footwear.
While some trails can be rocky, many routes to the summits, such as the classic path to Pic Saint-Loup from Cazevieille, are largely shaded and accessible to those in good condition. It's advisable to check specific trail descriptions for difficulty and elevation to ensure they are suitable for all family members.
Beyond hiking, the area offers diverse outdoor activities. You can explore various road cycling routes, such as the Fambetou Pass loop, or enjoy running trails like the Réservoir de Bouis loop. For more hiking options, check out the broader hiking guide for Saint-Martin-De-Londres.
Yes, the region is rich in history. The Montagne de l'Hortus is known for the Grotte de l'Hortus, an important archaeological site that served as a refuge for Neanderthals. Additionally, the slopes of both Pic Saint-Loup and Sommet de l'Hortus are renowned for their vineyards, producing the distinct Pic Saint-Loup AOP wines, reflecting the area's deep connection to viticulture.
For Pic Saint-Loup, there is a large parking lot at its foot, though it can get crowded during high season. Specific parking details for other peaks and trailheads can vary, so it's recommended to check local signage or trail information before your visit.
Visitors frequently praise the magnificent panoramic views from the summits, especially the 360-degree vistas from Pic Saint-Loup and Hortus Summit. The rewarding feeling after a good climb, the diverse landscapes, and the opportunity to connect with nature in the garrigue are also highly valued.
Vine Rock, or Roc de la Vigne, offers an exceptional view of Pic Saint-Loup and Hortus from its altitude of approximately 706 meters. It's considered an incredible place by visitors and is well worth the detour for its scenic beauty.
A classic route to the summit of Pic Saint-Loup from Cazevieille typically takes approximately 2.5 hours round trip for a 6 km hike. A moderate loop hike to Hortus Summit, starting near Château de Viviourès, takes about 2 hours and 14 minutes for 5.374 kilometers with a 397-meter elevation gain.
