It's accessible via several hiking trails, including the South West Coast Path: Hartland Quay to Speke's Mill Mouth. Parking is often available near Hartland Quay, which serves as a common starting point for walks to the waterfall. Public transport options to this more remote coastal area can be limited, so planning ahead is advisable.
Yes, there are several easy options. The South West Coast Path: Hartland Quay to Speke's Mill Mouth is an easy 1.8-mile (3.0 km) path that leads directly to the waterfall, making it a great choice for families. This route features dramatic geology and offers a rewarding experience without being overly strenuous.
Many trails in Torridge are dog-friendly, allowing you to enjoy the waterfall hikes with your canine companion. Be mindful of local signage and ensure your dog is well-behaved around other hikers and wildlife.
Yes, for those who prefer circular routes, the Screda Point – Spekes Mill Mouth Waterfall loop from Hartland Quay is a popular choice. This 3.5-mile (5.6 km) trail offers stunning coastal scenery and brings you back to your starting point, typically taking about 1 hour 37 minutes to complete.
