somewhat hidden and difficult to reach - an old half-timbered church in Melsungen near the Fulda riverbank

To the right of the Carl Braun Hut, near the bench, a steep trail winds through the forest, amidst leaves and branches. If you don't stray from the trail (like I did 🙈), you'll emerge above the ICE bridge near Adelshausen.

The square where the bench is located is called Im Neuendorf - with a beautiful view of Spangenberg!

Upon entering the church interior, the altar area immediately catches the eye, highlighted by the colored windows. The crucifix on the altar was designed by the Kassel artist Hermann Pohl and differs from traditional depictions of the crucified one. Thus, the focus is not on the suffering, but on the victorious Son of God. The church has been redesigned several times in its over 100-year history. The last major renovation took place in the year 2000. The pictures on the gallery are by the artist Fiorini from Perugia/Todi (Italy).
