great place to start or finish a ride in this general area, pretty quiet roads with typical lakeland scenery in all directions, trains to Helsinki and Kuopio/Oulu every 2–3 hours (but do keep in mind that Pendolino trains don’t carry bikes), summer cafe in the old goods depot

cycling not allowed on the highway itself, the service road consists of paved old highway leftovers at both ends and a section of fairly rough gravel in the middle, continues at both ends following the highway a bit further, but eventually you’ll have to take some detours (really I’d recommend picking a different route unless you absolutely have to ride this way)

Decent selection of burgers burgers, salads and the like - very friendly staff. Plenty of outdoor seating with a nice lakeview for when there's good weather.

One of the few (as so often in Finland) places where you can get to the lake. Just off the road with little traffic, no marking as private.
