I rode from Betxi to Cabanes (approx. 40 km) on this cycle path. The route itself is in excellent condition regarding surface, signage and width, and it rides very well. But it is permanently very loud due to the motorway running right next to it.

Yes, Onda offers a few easier gravel bike trails. While many routes feature varied terrain, you can find options suitable for beginners. One such route is the Masía Gaeta Trail – Cueva de las Ferrerías loop from Estació de Castelló, which is rated as moderate but offers a good introduction to the region's gravel biking.
Onda is well-known for its more challenging gravel bike routes, with over 50 difficult trails available. For a significant elevation gain and varied terrain, consider the Coll d’Aín – Aín Village loop from Eslida, which includes a mountain pass and passes through Aín Village.
Many of the gravel bike routes in Onda are designed as circular loops, allowing you to start and finish at the same point. Examples include the Masía Gaeta Trail – Cueva de las Ferrerías loop and the La Torreta Quarry – View of La Coma loop.
For scenic views, the La Torreta Quarry – View of La Coma loop from Estació de Castelló is an excellent choice, leading through quarry areas and offering panoramic vistas. Many routes also traverse natural areas with elevated points providing great outlooks over the landscape.

Yes, for longer rides, consider routes like the Singletrack Trail – Font de Paret loop from Estació de Castelló, which covers nearly 50 kilometers. Another substantial option is the Desert de les Palmes Pass – Via Verde Oropesa Benicassim loop, also close to 50 kilometers in length.
The best seasons for gravel biking in Onda are typically spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). During these periods, the weather is generally mild and pleasant, avoiding the intense heat of summer and the cooler, potentially wetter conditions of winter. This allows for comfortable riding and optimal trail conditions.
While Onda generally enjoys a Mediterranean climate, heavy rainfall can make some gravel trails muddy and slippery, especially those with natural surfaces or through quarry areas. It's advisable to check local weather forecasts before heading out and choose routes that are known to drain well or have more paved sections if wet conditions are expected.
To find less crowded trails, consider exploring routes slightly further afield from the most popular starting points or those that are longer and more challenging, as these tend to attract fewer riders. The region offers a vast network, so venturing into less-trafficked areas can provide a more solitary experience.
While many routes in Onda feature varied terrain and elevation, some of the easier or moderate trails can be suitable for families with older children who are comfortable with gravel riding. Look for routes with less technical singletrack and more gradual ascents. Always check the route details for difficulty and surface type to ensure it matches your family's capabilities.
