July 21, 2026, Stubbe Sø

As the largest lake on the Djursland peninsula, this idyllic body of water lies peacefully nestled in the forests and meadows of Mols Bjerge National Park. Nature lovers particularly appreciate this clear ice-pushed lake as an untouched bird paradise, which can be wonderfully observed from a hidden observation tower.

This spectacular viewpoint offers a view of the historic, medieval castle ruins, which majestically perch on their own small Baltic Sea island. From here, hikers and cyclists can perfectly overlook the long, historic stone causeway that has connected the fortress remnants with the mainland for centuries.

June 28, 2026, Agri Church

Hundreds of meters above sea level, at the entrance to Mols Bjerge, lies the small village of Agri with the rectory from the late 17th century and the medieval church from the 13th century with vaults from the 14th century, which give the church interior particularly good acoustics. Agri is located in the middle of Mols Bjerge National Park. The church consists of a Romanesque choir and a nave made of rough boulders. The tower and porch were added in the 18th century. Open from 8 AM - 4 PM. or by appointment. There are concerts and lectures several times a year. https://www.visitaarhus.de/region-aarhus/reiseplanung/agri-kirche-bei-mols-gdk606157

June 27, 2026, Ørnbjerg Mølle

The Ørnbjerg Mølle is the only fully functioning watermill still in Denmark. It is located nestled in a forest area southeast of Feldballe on the Ulstrup Å river in the idyllic Mols Bjerge National Park on the Djursland peninsula. The roots of the mill date back to the mid-16th century. The current thatched building dates from 1833 and is a protected monument. The site now functions as a museum mill. A freely accessible plank exhibition in the old pigsty (Svinehuset) documents the historical life and work at the mill. A dedicated association of volunteers (Ørnbjerg Møllelaug) maintains the mill. On special occasions (such as the annual Mill Day), the large water wheel is put into operation to grind grain. The surroundings offer picnic areas, two shelter sites for free overnight stays, and two camping sites. Hiking trails start from here, including a beautiful path to the nearby Stubbe Sø. https://www.visitaarhus.dk/aarhusregionen/planlaeg-ferien/oernbjerg-moelle-gdk605940

Quiet forest paths lead through Hemstok Forest, a woodland of gentle hills, small streams and varied vegetation. Several prehistoric burial mounds can be found in the area, adding traces of human history to this otherwise natural landscape.

A wooden jetty on the shore of Ravnsø provides unobstructed views across the lake and the surrounding forests. It’s a quiet place to enjoy the characteristic glacial landscape of Søhøjlandet.

The short half kilometer across the dam to the Kalø Castle ruins is also a journey into a past of over 700 years ago.
