A true heaven for filled baguettes. Voted Finland’s best rest stop in 2023 and 2024. Great lunch buffet with varied and tasty options. Only downside: it’s a bit off the city center—about 7 km from downtown Mikkeli, and it can get crowded on weekends. But if you’re passing by, I warmly recommend stopping here!

From its yard starts a 1.3 km nature trail around an old mill environment, with campfire spots along the way. The nature trail is not suitable for cycling due to its narrow path, roots, and elevation changes. In summer, you can borrow kayaks, cargo bikes, SUP boards, and rowboats free of charge. The nature center is open from Tuesday to Sunday during the summer season. Summer season 2025 opening hours: – Opens 3.6.2025 – Closed during Midsummer 20.–23.6.2025 – June–July: Tue–Sun 11:00–19:00, closed on Mondays – August: Wed–Sun 11:00–19:00, closed on Mondays and Tuesdays

This view of Lake Hanhilampi offers you a serene glimpse of nature, with its calm waters reflecting the surrounding forests. This peaceful spot is perfect for a quiet break, whether you're hiking through or simply enjoying the scenery. Depending on the season, you might spot waterbirds gliding across the lake or autumn colors painting the shoreline.
