Cycling on Fehmarn
Der Grüne Brink is a nature reserve in Schleswig-Holstein, located on the north coast of Fehmarn, covering 134 hectares, which has been under protection since 1938. It consists of a 2.5 km long and up to 180 meter wide strip of land between the dyke built in 1872 and the Baltic Sea. The dyke construction, in turn, created the Grüne Brink. Due to changed current conditions, spits formed, which later created isolated, small, slowly silting-up inland lakes. Only during strong high tides does salty Baltic Sea water still flow into the small coastal lakes. Der Grüne Brink is a breeding ground for a number of rare water birds. Up to 170 bird species are counted over the course of a year. To the east, a bathing beach and a popular kite-surfing area follow.

Here you can see an old, decommissioned lighthouse and a new one right next to it. You don't see that very often.
