From 1869 to 1872 our St. John's Church was built as a successor to the dilapidated predecessor church on the highest square in the city. It is a neo-Gothic church - and to this day the interior of the church has largely been preserved as it was when it was built.

The Dömitz Fortress, located on the Mecklenburg bank of the Elbe, is one of the few very well-preserved lowland fortresses from the 16th century in northern Germany.
