The imposing brick building in the neo-Gothic style dates back to 1870. It is already the third town hall on this site. The town hall is also called the "Red Lion."

The old town boasts many half-timbered houses dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries. It was rebuilt after being destroyed by fires and the Thirty Years' War. Other important buildings include the Old Town Hall ("Red Lion") and the large late-Gothic Catholic church. Sections of the old city wall, such as the Wolf Tower, have been preserved.

The city fathers of Bad Ems were not content with a modest functional building, but had the town hall decorated with an ornamental facade and a carillon, similar to the large hotels and casino. They probably wanted to emphasize to the spa guests staying here at the time that the city council and mayor did not simply meet here, but rather resided there.

The castle is free to visit. Please note the opening hours. There's a wedding room in the castle tower, and breathtaking views of the surrounding area can be enjoyed from the top of the tower. You can even see the Lahn River from up there. 😘

There's a road you can take to Nassau Castle by car 🥳😜. Please be careful there, as the lane won't have enough room for two cars if another car is coming the other way. There are passing bays here and there. Or you can take the path through the forest on foot 🤗. The Lahn hiking trail also runs partway there 🌞🫶😄
