It is officially a hike, but there is no sign that the path is closed for bike. Motor vehicles, open fires, piknik etc are not allowed though. I went on a calm weekday. There were hardly any people and the parking lot empty. However, it can be very crowded at weekends in summertime. Then is might be better to go around with your bike.

The fortress was built between 1393 and 1394 by Sultan Bayezid I on the Asian (or Anatolian, in Turkish anadolu) side of the Bosphorus. Together with Rumeli Hisarı on the European shore, it controlled shipping on the Bosphorus.

The current palace was designed by the architects Garabed Amira Balyan[1] and his son Nigoğayos Balyan on behalf of Sultan Abdülmecid I and built between 1856 and 1857. The sultans only came here for excursions and returned the same day. Therefore, there is not a single bed in this luxurious excursion palace.

A lot of traffic between istanbul and the airport. The closer you get to the airport the more traffic there is. However due to the very wide shoulder it is extremely safe for cycling

Very safe for cycling due to the wide shoulder. Not a lot of traffic either

It is possible to cycle from/to the airport from/to downtown Istanbul. Extra wide shoulder....seems dangerous and like a highway but perfectly save and legal. Was passed by over 6 police cars and was not stopped..

One of the two alternative ways to enter and exit Balaban via D020. It is a slightly more well-maintained and wider asphalt road than the other alternative.
