There was some construction going on today, and the gates were open (last time they were closed!), no one said anything to me, so I just walked through. I didn't see any restrictions, closures, or anything else either...

The Museum of the Argenta Valleys, the gateway to the Valleys, is a historical and naturalistic museum that describes the history, culture, traditions and nature of this territory through images, objects and models. The headquarters of the Museum is the Casino di Campotto, a splendid 18th century building used for agricultural purposes and later as a hunting lodge, recovered in order to maintain its original appearance. Today the Museum has been completely renovated and inaugurated in 2007, respecting the aims of scientific and historical dissemination. ... Casetto Bassarone Social Hut CAI Argenta Section “Bruno Soldati” The Casetto Cai which we renamed "Refuge" is an old guard house of the Reno river dating back to the early twentieth century. The house, built during the reclamation operations of the Argentine territory as a garrison and guardian of the works themselves, hosted groups of evacuees from the surrounding towns during the Second World War and was inhabited by the last custodian until the 1960s. The house, owned by the State Property, was given in concession to the Province and from this to the Municipality of Argenta, which through an agreement assigned it for use to the local Section of the Italian Alpine Club. The Hut is self-managed, consisting of a ground floor intended as a main room with cooking area and multi-purpose room and a first floor which is currently not usable. ... At this point, the road that should cross the park is blocked by several gates, all with padlocks. There is no signage with explanations. I don't know if it's accessible only with guides or only on certain days, or if it's only closed temporarily or on that occasion (bad luck for me)

It was inaugurated in 1924, in the presence of King Vittorio Emanuele, as the final act of the long reclamation work in the Bolognese plain, carried out "per capmata" and lasting more than a century. The engine room is stunning. The same plants that Vittorio Emanuele saw in 1924: six "Franco Tosi" pumps with three-phase synchronous power supply, the prehistory of contemporary electricity. Level measurements, in the basins downstream and upstream of the dewatering pump, still take place using a refined pulley mechanism, where everything seems ninety years old.
