All Saints Waterfalls

Highlight • Waterfall

I recommend hiking the All Saints Falls from the bottom to the top; they look more spectacular this way, as you always have the falls in front of you. They are particularly impressive in spring and after prolonged rains; after extended dry periods, they are far less beautiful. In winter, the path, if passable at all, is often icy and not without danger. In summer, it is pleasantly cool here.

According to legend, a girl on the run here was carried by angels across the gorge and was thus saved.

In the valley of the Rotmurg near Obertal there is a waterfall over which a covered wooden bridge leads. The name comes from the water turbulence of the Rotmurg, which falls into a pool here. The bridge is part of the geological nature trail from Obertal to the Ruhestein. A legend has grown up around the place. In 1678, more precisely on June 21st, the upper Murg Valley was attacked by imperial dragoons. These wore red coats and were therefore called red coats. According to legend, there was a skirmish here as a result of which numerous dragoons died. Only the captain was invulnerable. He was overwhelmed and sunk here in the devil's mill, weighted down with stones. This, too, failed to kill him. Ultimately, he told the peasants that if you cut the three consecrated hosts from his hand, he would die. So you did it and he passed away. The Murg turned red from his blood for three days and was henceforth called Rotmurg. The story is explained on boards. Worthwhile detour or tour content for gravel bikers and MTB enthusiasts.

Bridge at Seltenbach Waterfall

Highlight • Bridge

The waterfall is called "Seltenbach Waterfall" - because it only rarely has water, namely when the snow melts and after heavy rain.

In summer, it only drizzles lightly, but the area around the bridge is lush, rustic green. A lovely atmosphere!

The bridge is relatively unspectacular. After a period of rain, the Seltenbach waterfall is impressive. For people interested in botany, the types of moss in the area are also interesting (for example, brook spademoss can be found here).

You can read a great story about the red coats at the Teufelsmühle. However, you shouldn't take every detail at face value ;-)
