Summit Cross Hohe Wann

Highlight • Summit

The summit of the Hohe Wann is 388 meters high. At the top there is a kind of summit cross and an information board about the nature reserve of the same name.

The cross was erected in 1720 by the teacher's daughter Ursula Köhler and was repaired and renovated several times in the following years. Its current form dates back to 1993.

By the way: Unlike some mountain bikers, I think the climb is definitely worth it. On the one hand, there is a beautiful trail leading up to it, where you can take a break on benches. On the other hand, at least in spring you can catch a glimpse of the surrounding towns such as Kleinaugsfeld.

This peak is shown on many maps and has a radio mast that can be seen from afar. Anyone who suspects a view will not get their money's worth, because it is a wooded peak.

View from Spanshügel

Highlight • Viewpoint

Wonderful view far into the Grabfeld ... but brutally steep ascent and possibly. damp underground extremely slippery .. to be enjoyed with care ... but the view compensates for everything .... 👍

The ruins of Bramberg Castle are located within the Haßberge Nature Park on the summit of the 494.3-meter-high Bramberg, an extinct volcanic cone of the Heldburg Gangschar, approximately 2 kilometers northwest of the village of Bramberg, a western district of Ebern, and about 5 kilometers (as the crow flies) northeast of the city of Königsberg in Bavaria. It is surrounded by the Goßmannsdorf Forest. Source and further information: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burg_Bramberg_(Ha%C3%9Fberge)

We briefly left the main hiking trail HAS.5 and walked up a wide path, which was initially paved and then turned into a wide forest path, also a little steeply up to the plateau of the Hohe Wann. This path was also used by forest vehicles. I visited here in winter, so I could look into the valley through the still leafless trees. There are benches here for a rest. I had previously read on the Highlight Trail that it is very dangerous, also because of falling trees. That's why I chose the wide path and walked back along it.

A completely normal mountain where a radio mast stands. Not 300 meters further is the Raueneck ruins

Unfortunately, the path up here was completely unkempt. And it was a great challenge to get to the cross through mud, tall grass and thorns.

The climb is a bit difficult, but the view from a great wooden bench makes up for it.
