The Bonkmolen, together with the still existing Vlietmolen, the Lekkersche Molen located between these two mills and the Rode- or Overtogtmolen also located on the Vliet, drained the Lakerveld polder. This polder was an independent municipality until 1814. It was then merged with the Municipality of Lexmond-Achthoven to form the municipality of Lexmond-Lakerveld. Both located in the Vijfheerenlanden. Meerkerk is located in the Alblasserwaard. In the meantime, the Lakerveld polder has been expanded with the Achthoven (to the NW of the Vlietmolen) and Lexmond (of which the lower tower of the Pluck-op Molen still remains).
