Tongelaar Castle is a medieval castle complex that, in its current form, incorporates elements from various periods. The castle stands on a strategic elevation and is surrounded by water features and old farmstead structures that are part of the historic estate. It was first mentioned in the 14th century and has been renovated and fortified several times since then. The buildings, courtyard, and moats clearly reflect its former fortified function and its later agricultural role within the estate. Today, the castle serves as a visitor center and restaurant, with views of the surrounding lanes and fields.

Looks very cozy: the tea house is located opposite the house where the renovated bakery and a more modern part are located. But when the weather is nice, people sit on the beautiful terrace. From the information board on site (there is more information on it, also about a former chapel): "This former farm is a beautiful example of a cross or crutch house, so called because of the T-shaped floor plan. The high part of the building must have been an inn in the past. The flower street was then a main road along which people from Gennep and Ottersum went to the Cuijk market and was therefore a popular place for running cafes." "The building probably dates from the eighteenth century. In any case, it is certain that it was built after 1622. In that year, all buildings around the nearby Genneperhuis, which was located in the Schotveld, were demolished." "The detached building that must have served as a bakery in the past is special." The building converted into a farmhouse was the model for the Stichting Cultuurbehoud Milsbeek and the bakery together with the new building is the tea house. The entrance to (the area surrounding) the Genneperhuis is nearby. You can read the rest on the information board (see also photos).
