This bike lane is pretty bad, it's very narrow and mostly in the Dooring Zone of parked cars! This can be very dangerous!

The reactivation of the historic Heidekrautbahn main line will provide rail access to another northern residential area. At the same time, recreational travelers will be able to quickly reach popular destinations such as Wandlitzsee and the Schorfheide. As part of the i2030 infrastructure program, eight new stations are to be built along the approximately 14-kilometer-long route. The starting point is Wilhelmsruh station, where the building permit, known in technical jargon as the "planning approval decision," has already been obtained. A new platform for the Heidekrautbahn will be built on a railway embankment next to the S-Bahn station. The previous station was located in a similar location, but at street level. The visualizations show what the new Wilhelmsruh station will look like in the future. Work began in November 2024 and is expected to continue until the end of 2025. A current construction report is available at https://www.i2030.de/reaktivierung-der-stammstrecke-der-heidekrautbahn-arbeiten-am-bahnhof-wilhelmsruh-nehmen-fahrt-auf/. Preparatory measures for construction, such as clearing the construction site, clearing the area, and rerouting the Wall Cycle Path, which is very popular with day-trippers, were already completed in 2021. More information on the Heidekrautbahn reactivation project can be found at https://www.i2030.de/nord/.

The sky glows reddish over the Oder-Havel Canal, reflected in the water. The road was still quiet, allowing you to enjoy the peace and quiet of nature.

Along the road is a good bike path with a smooth surface. It's easy to ride. Highly recommended: the bike paths through the forest in both directions.

You cross the canal on a bridge a few times. Because of the busy boat traffic, it's worth stopping every now and then.
