In the center of the village stands the 13th-century Church of St. Pantaleon, whose imposing tower and graceful roof turret with its octagonal cupola are visible from afar and which is among the oldest buildings in the district. A checkerboard stone is also located on the southwest corner of the tower. According to a medieval inscription, the church is dedicated to St. Pantaleon, an early Christian martyr and patron saint of physicians and of the Franks who founded the village of Frankena. The church's furnishings include a valuable organ from 1812, whose original sound and historical appearance were restored in 2006. Visits to the church or the tower are possible by prior arrangement at the rectory.

The road is the better alternative due to its condition. Since traffic is very limited, this isn't a problem.

Finally, smooth asphalt again. The bike path is well developed.

The road is quiet, at least on weekends. It's a different story during the week, when there's much more traffic. It's definitely faster from Schacksdorf to Lichterfeld.
