It is a beautiful place to rest and relax. You can observe waterfowl and sometimes even Egyptian geese with their young in the spring. Fish are also in the pond, by the way.

Under the new name Friedenspark, the site was reopened in 1983 as a recreational area with various leisure activities. The two themed gardens are a special feature: The Apothecary Garden of the University of Leipzig showcases 300 medicinal, healing, and poisonous plants, while the Fragrance and Touch Garden was created in 2007 for the integration of blind and visually impaired people. https://www.leipzig.travel/poi/friedenspark-apothekergarten-und-duft-und-tastgarten

The Apothecary's Garden, reopened on June 1, 2001, continued a 450-year-old tradition in Leipzig. More than 300 officially recognized medicinal plants, typical medicinal plants, poisonous plants, and historically interesting species are displayed on approximately 3,000 square meters. The Apothecary's Garden serves as a training ground for students and provides continuing education for interested pharmacists, biologists, and physicians. Pharmacists will find all the plant species currently used in phytomedicine, including many that are either still being researched or are of medical historical significance. Interested laypeople can also learn more and continue their education in a pleasant garden setting. https://www.leipzig.de/freizeit-kultur-und-tourismus/parks-waelder-und-friedhoefe/parks-und-gruenanlagen/friedenspark/apothekergarten

The 20-hectare green space in the southeastern part of Leipzig was opened as the Peace Park in 1983. Previously, the area was used as the new St. John's Cemetery. The green space on Linnéstraße in the south of the city was opened in 1846 as the new St. John's Cemetery, as the Old St. John's Cemetery had reached its capacity and could not be expanded. Due to severe damage from World War II, it was closed to burials at the end of 1950 and completely closed to the public 20 years later. The former function of today's park can still be glimpsed through the remains of the surrounding wall and a few preserved sections. The Peace Park also has a lot to offer families. In addition to the popular playground, there are table tennis tables, sports equipment, a basketball court, a barbecue area, and a toboggan hill, which is very popular in winter. https://www.leipzig.travel/poi/friedenspark-apothekergarten-und-duft-und-tastgarten
