This is the first of two great churches on the Nordschleife of the IM Kalmar cycling course.

Ljungbyholm is a great place to go for a walk. Bridges and many smaller paths make it possible

Very nice winding route. Slightly hilly, past farms, fields and meadows and through the forest. Great with the racing bike, hardly any cars on the way. 👌

Örsjö Church is one of the 12 central churches built by the architect Emil Langlet with the tower in the middle. It was inaugurated around 1873 and destroyed by fire in 1974. The reconstruction took place on the original foundation walls and the re-inauguration was in 1976.

Even if you are not that much into churches, you have to admit that this one is pretty and much unlike the churches you see in Sweden. The architect Emil Langlet was inspired by Cuban churches. The Örsjö church is the last of the twelve central churches drawn by the architect. It was built in 1889 to 1892. In 1974 the church was destroyed in a fire, only the walls were left behind. The Church was rebuilt and reopened in September 1976.
