Tasman Bridge is the city’s main link between the eastern and western shores. Opened in 1965, the bridge includes pedestrian walkways on both sides running directly beside traffic lanes. Walking across feels exposed and noisy, but the elevation gives wide views over the river, Hobart skyline, and surrounding hills. The bridge is also closely tied to Hobart’s history following the 1975 Tasman Bridge disaster, when a cargo ship collision caused part of the bridge to collapse and temporarily split the city in two.

There is a water tap with potable water at this location beside the dump point. Can't comment on the park itself.

Great spot for a stealth camp! Although this is not a campsite, there are no signs saying that camping is prohibited. There are signs for no fires etc... We had a very peaceful night here and even made friends with a beautiful little rooster that we named Chanticleer. Please say hello to him for us if he turns up and give him a bit of cauliflower if you can - he's very fond of it.

Feces is the great unifier of mankind, yet it remains stigmatized, seen as nothing more than repulsive bodily discharge. Unbelievably there are only three museums in the world dedicated to scat -- Richmond, Tasmania, is the lucky home of one of them. The Pooseum is literally 'the sh#t.' Poo samples aplenty are seen, not smelled, and information panels provide everything you have ever wanted to know about bowel movements, uses for dung, and which food items contain excrement (hint: most foods that list vanillin as an ingredient).

***UPDATE*** BURY ME STANDING HAS CLOSED DOWN They are still running their Cairns location, but the Hobart café is now permanently closed! ************** Quirky bagel joint run buy an American Mid-Westerner with German heritage - meaning excellent food and lots of pickles! Our favorite breakfast joint in Hobart and the best place to go to fuel your tour onwards from Hobart. Great coffee too. They also sell amazing souvenirs, such as the "Christmas Pickle"; A pickle ornament to be placed on your Christmas tree as part of an American tradition thought to originate in Germany.

Iconic bridge of Hobart. There is a bike lane/footpath over the bridge, but it is VERY narrow. Be careful how you go!
