Berching is a beautiful little town with picturesque paths, lovingly restored houses, churches, and cozy little squares—definitely a lovely stopover by bike or on foot. We enjoyed a delicious meal and sat in the sun at the Brauereigasthof Winkler. The service was very friendly!

The heart of the 7-valley town of Dietfurt, the building on the market square was built around 1479 and extensively renovated in 1970. In front of the town hall stands the world-famous Chinese fountain from 1962, the symbol of the Dietfurt "Chinese".

Berching, the gateway to the Altmühltal Nature Park, is located on the banks of the Main-Danube Canal and the historic Ludwig-Donau-Main Canal. In 1846, King Ludwig built the canal past Berching that was named after him and is still preserved today. Since 1992, Berching has been located directly on the Main-Danube Canal, the major European waterway that connects the North Sea with the Black Sea. The 500-year-old defensive wall with thirteen towers and four gates leads to a closed cityscape that is unique in Bavaria
