December 29, 2023, St Arvans Victorian Drinking Fountain

In the 1890s, Monmouthshire County Council made the decision to install drinking fountains across the county. In St Arvan, local residents went the extra mile, raising an additional £30 to acquire a unique fountain manufactured in Glasgow. This fountain underwent renovation for the millennium.

A nice climb that is relatively easy and is rewarded with some spectacular scenery around Wyndcliffe and the descent into Tintern.

Open, wide, forest trails - excellent gravel link between surrounding roads

A short tunnel section linking the two sides of the Severn Bridge cycle crossing, featuring some nice graffiti. However, there is always a lot of broken glass through here so either push and enjoy the art or be very cautious where you are riding.

Great fast smooth gravel fire roads. Not too hilly, but it is all at the top of a hill so a climb to get there!
