A great rocky tech descent

Kentmere Hall is a 14th century pele tower. The turrets, one of the original windows and the spiral staircase remain. The tower was extended in the 15th or 16th century into a residence and is now a farmhouse.

Great running / hiking route. Loose rocks but makes these more remote valleys accessible

The bridleway that climbs from Ullthwaite Bridge to the sheepfold junction below Capple Howe is a tough ascent or fun descent. You gain about 427 feet (130m) in 2km. Views are great though!

It was late on the day, dusk at around 5pm. The rain was coming down heavier. This location will be exposed to bad winds on some days. Full of puddles but traction was ok

the Garburn road is a rocky track ascending from Troutbeck towards Kentmere. It's gradient is never too steep and offers solid ground under foot, meaning it's a good choice to gain height quickly without having to stop to walk!
