The frog at the Theodul Fountain provides free drinking water to thirsty city walkers. The fountain water itself is not suitable for drinking.

Since the end of the First World War in 1918, there had been repeated efforts in Ehingen to erect a memorial for the fallen and missing soldiers. Towards the end of 1928, this discussion revived. A collection was intended to raise at least part of the necessary funds. After much back and forth regarding the location, the artistic execution, and the awarding of the commission, the memorial was not inaugurated until July 1, 1934. The larger-than-life Ehingen Lion was originally designed by sculptor Franz Sieferle from Lahr, but its completion was later entrusted – apparently after intervention by Nazi Party officials – to the Stuttgart sculptor Eugen Frey, who had previously criticized Sieferle's lion design for "anatomical errors."
