First of all: it's part of the National Trust. That means members can enter without it; otherwise, it currently costs 25 pounds per adult. Once you've paid at the entrance, you can go directly to the main car park, or you can drive along the "Carriage Way" and stop at one of the other car parks – wherever you like. There are several signposted hikes, but they'll be too meager for most Komoot users. Today we combined the black route with a few of our own detours and side trips – great!!!!! The house is OK, but for me (!) it was even more beautiful outside – there's so much to see and enjoy.

The photo is form the bottom of Eshott Airfield runway, but the view is looking in the same direction as the aircraft takes off. The airfield is not a busy place, but you can see occasional aircraft using the facility

West Thirston on the south side of Felton is the start of an up and down section ahead. It might be a struggle for some road bikes with high gearing, but passable with effort to many

These are the gates for the eastern entrance to Newton Green, they are always locked. Access can be gained from the other roads that can be seen on the Komoot map

The Cook and Barker is a popular bar for meals and a drink. Many people travel in from outside location as this bar is in a village with maybe no more than 50 residents. The car parking areas might fit 20 cars in, it seems to be full often. Many people have good words for the meals here

A very impressive building. Years ago Cragside used to employ more than 300 workers. There are features in loads of locations within the estate. Workers can be seen constantly going about, maintaining the estate
