Lovely little climb with nice surfaces and decent visibility around corners for a single track road. Views of the wolds.

From high up at Settrington Beacon you can enjoy wide views both across the Vale of Pickering towards the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Wolds. A beacon originally stood here in Roman times, lit to warn of a Viking invasion. It was one of a chain stretching from Scarborough and Filey Brigg all the way to York.

Superbly beautiful place about 2 miles (3.2 km) from Millington. My favourite place in inland East Yorkshire.

St Peter’s is a large Norman church in a peaceful setting. Whilst there is no mention of the church in the Domesday Book, the chancel dates to the 12th century and the rest of the church dates to the 14th century. The church, which is Grade I-listed, boasts medieval wall paintings and has stained glass windows from the 15th century.
